Dr. Olatomide (Tomi) Familusi is an Ivy league and fellowship trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon with an eye for well-balanced aesthetics and a passion for building genuine relationships with her patients. Focusing on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, and body, Dr. Familusi prioritizes crafting bespoke, natural, and long-lasting results. She emphasizes compassionate and holistic care because she believes plastic surgery has the power to create profoundly positive physical and psychological transformations. She has specific interest and expertise is surgical and non-surgical rejuvenation of the face, body contouring, aesthetic, and reconstructive breast surgery, including complex revisional breast surgery.
She earned her medical degree and a master’s degree in Clinical/Translation Research Methods at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where she graduated top of her class and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She completed her plastic and reconstructive surgery training at the University of Pennsylvania, recognized as one of the premier programs in the country, where she served as an Assistant Instructor in Surgery. She has the unique distinction of being the first African American woman to match into the institution’s 6-year integrated plastic and reconstructive residency program. At the University of Pennsylvania, she was mentored by highly regarded leaders in microsurgical reconstruction, hand, and aesthetic surgery. Her training also extended to world renowned Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) where she learned from pioneers in craniomaxillofacial and pediatric plastic surgery. Dedicated to perfecting her craft, Dr. Familusi went on to complete an aesthetic surgery fellowship under the tutelage of internationally recognized facelift expert, Dr. Louis P. Bucky, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During her fellowship, Dr. Familusi studied advanced techniques in surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation which she now brings to Breast Body and Beauty Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Familusi is active on national society committees, has published in magazines and peer reviewed journals and presented at regional and national meetings. She regularly attends courses and national meetings to stay on top of the latest advances in surgical and non-surgical procedures. Originally a New Yorker, Dr. Familusi is excited to call Atlanta her new home. She enjoys traveling, hosting parties, is an avid reader and wine enthusiast.
